How Pelvic Floor Therapy Can Help Create Space for Baby to Turn

Understanding Breech Position

A breech position means your baby is sitting upright—bum down, head up—instead of the ideal head-down position for a vaginal delivery. This is very common earlier in pregnancy (up to 25% of babies are breech near the end of the second trimester), but only about 3–4% stay breech as labor approaches.

So why don’t some babies flip?

Most often, it comes down to space.

The soft tissues surrounding the uterus—your ligaments, muscles, and pelvic structures—play a huge role in how freely your baby can move. When those tissues are tight, imbalanced, or under tension, it can limit your baby’s ability to turn on their own.

At Mountain Mama Pelvic Health, we’re not “flipping” babies. We’re creating the optimal space in your body so your baby can do what they’re already designed to do.

Think of it like trying to move around in a studio apartment versus a spacious four-bedroom home. One feels cramped and restricted; the other gives you room to breathe and shift comfortably. My goal is to help your body feel like that roomy house again—so your baby has the space to stretch, rotate, and ideally settle head-down.

How Mountain Mama Pelvic Health Helps Breech Babies Turn

At Mountain Mama Pelvic Health, we use targeted, hands-on techniques to help create space and release restrictions in the body that are preventing baby from flipping. Our goal is to use gentle movement to create space in your body so baby can do what babies are designed to do: move into that head down position. Here’s how we support you:

Pelvic & Rib Cage Alignment

Imbalances in the body can create asymmetry and tension that limit your baby’s ability to move freely. We assess and treat the pelvis, spine, and rib cage to restore balance and improve mobility.

Round Ligament & Abdominal Release

Gentle manual therapy helps ease tension in the ligaments and fascia surrounding the uterus, creating more space and comfort for your baby.

Pelvic Floor & Gluteal Muscle Work

We address tension in the pelvic floor (externally and internally when appropriate), along with the glutes and deep hip rotators. This helps the pelvis move more freely and encourages optimal baby positioning.

Postural Assessment & Education

We teach you how to support healthy alignment throughout your day—because the way you sit, stand, move, and even sleep can influence your baby’s ability to rotate head-down.

Rebozo

In addition to manual therapy, we offer rebozo techniques to support comfort, relaxation, and improved mobility during pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

Don’t wait and wonder. Create the space now.

Whether you’re 30 weeks or 36, it’s not too late to start. Beginning earlier simply gives us more time to create space and ease. We’re here to support your body—and your baby—in finding optimal alignment before labor begins.
