Pelvic Floor Therapy
Whole-body care for your pelvic health, movement, and confidence
Your pelvic floor doesn't work alone. Your care shouldn't either.
Pelvic floor therapy at Mountain Mama Pelvic Health takes a whole-body, functional movement based approach to help you understand your body, address the root contributors to your symptoms, and get back to the activities you love.
As an occupational therapist specializing in pelvic health, I look beyond the pelvic floor itself. The way you breathe, move, hold tension, and respond to stress can all influence how your pelvic floor functions. From your jaw and rib cage to your hips, pelvis, and feet, we explore how your whole body works together.
Your care may include movement assessment, breathing mechanics, nervous system regulation, hands-on treatment, pelvic mobility, and internal pelvic floor assessment and treatment when appropriate and with your consent.
This isn't about chasing symptoms or being told to just give it more time. It's about understanding your body, finding what it needs, and creating a personalized plan that helps you move through life with greater comfort and confidence.
How Can Pelvic Floor Therapy Help?
You don't have to simply accept leaking, pain, pressure, or discomfort as part of being a woman, having babies, or getting older.
Pelvic floor therapy can help address a variety of concerns, including:
Bladder & Bowel Health
Urinary leakage with exercise, coughing, sneezing, or laughing
Urinary urgency and frequency
Waking throughout the night to urinate
Constipation and difficulty with bowel movements
Pelvic, Hip & Back Pain
Pelvic girdle pain, including symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD)
Sacroiliac (SI) joint, hip, or low back pain
Pelvic floor muscle tension and internal pelvic pain
Pain or discomfort with daily movement and activities
Core & Abdominal Function
Diastasis recti (DRA)
Abdominal weakness or difficulty coordinating your core
Difficulty returning to exercise, lifting, or other activities after birth
Intimacy & Sexual Health
Pain with penetration or deep pelvic pain
Pain or discomfort after intercourse
Difficulty relaxing or coordinating the pelvic floor
Complex & Chronic Pelvic Health Concerns
Endometriosis and pelvic pain
Interstitial cystitis (IC) and bladder pain symptoms
Pelvic health concerns associated with PCOS
Persistent symptoms that haven't improved with previous treatment
You don't need to have a diagnosis to seek support. If something feels different, uncomfortable, or is keeping you from living the way you want, let's talk about it.
A Whole-Body Approach to Pelvic Floor Therapy
Your body is an interconnected system. Sometimes the area where you feel pain or dysfunction isn't the only place that needs attention.
During your evaluation, we'll explore how different parts of your body work together and how they may be contributing to your symptoms.
Movement from head to toe
We'll look at posture, movement patterns, neck and jaw tension, rib cage and thoracic mobility, hip and pelvic movement, and even foot and ankle mobility. These areas can influence how you manage pressure, coordinate movement, and support your pelvic floor.
Breathing & pressure management
Your diaphragm and pelvic floor work together with your abdominal muscles to coordinate breathing and manage pressure. We'll explore your breathing patterns and how your body responds to everyday demands like lifting, exercising, coughing, and caring for your children.
Nervous system & muscle tension
Your pelvic floor is influenced by more than strength alone. Stress, pain, protective muscle tension, and your nervous system's response to perceived threat can all affect how your body moves and functions. We'll consider the whole picture and incorporate strategies that help you feel safe, supported, and more connected to your body.
Hands-on & internal pelvic floor treatment
When appropriate, treatment may include manual therapy, gentle bodywork, pelvic mobility techniques, and an internal pelvic floor assessment or treatment. Internal work is never required to receive care, and any internal assessment or treatment happens only with your informed consent.
Functional movement & real-life activities
Our goal isn't simply to improve how your body functions on a treatment table. It's to help you translate that progress into everyday life—whether you're lifting your toddler, returning to the trails, exercising without leaking, enjoying intimacy, or moving through your day with less pain.
What to Expect at Your Visit
We'll start by listening to your story, understanding your concerns, and discussing what you want to get back to doing.
Together, we'll explore your movement, breathing, mobility, and pelvic floor function to better understand the factors contributing to your symptoms. We'll then develop a personalized treatment plan that may include hands-on care, movement, breathing strategies, education, and practical tools you can use at home.
You'll be an active partner in your care. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable, answer your questions, and adjust the plan to meet your needs.
You deserve to feel heard, understood, and supported—not dismissed or handed a one-size-fits-all plan.
